Retail Dietitian Profiles
My role at ShopRite is to stay up-to-date on current food and nutrition topics, trends, and research and then translate that information into easily understandable language while teaching customers and associates practical ways to apply it to their lifestyles.
My position is an in-store retail dietitian. My primary function is to bring health and wellness to life in the store through a number of avenues including store tours, strategic signage, culinary demonstrations, consultations, store wellness events, television and radio segments.
My role as an In-Store Dietitian is to deliver nutrition recommendations to our customers through personalized services, store tours and food demonstrations. Loblaws dietitians work closely with their pharmacies for best customer care. We also work regularly with community partners and even deliver on-site presentations for businesses and organizations.
My title is Nutrition Specialist. I work on the Quality Assurance team helping to ensure that all Giant Eagle’s private label food products display nutrition information that is both accurate and compliant with FDA and USDA guidelines.
I am the Nutrition Strategist and Brand Influencer for all Raley’s banners. I work closely with teams to provide insight on nutrition content, messaging, and product assortment while continuing forward with our mission -- Infusing life with health & happiness by changing the way to world eats, one plate at a time. I aid in driving nutrition strategies through employee and consumer engagement, work with internal partnerships and merchandising of products, marketing, social media, and community outreach.
I am one of two corporate dietitians at Fareway, based out of Boone, Iowa (near Des Moines). I maintain three weekly TV segments across the state, develop monthly 0:30 second recipe commercials, produce a quarterly magazine called CentsAble Health and provide various businesses and communities with free presentations on health and wellness.
I provide free nutrition services for shoppers, associates, and members of the community. My day-to-day tasks include diet counseling, cooking demonstrations, supermarket tours, hosting or attending health and wellness events, and conducting nutrition workshops. For me, every day is a new opportunity to educate our shoppers about making healthier food choices.
When I started working in the grocery industry in 1990 there were only a few dietitians employed in supermarkets. I was pretty much at a loss but am very thankful for a handful of individuals who shared their knowledge, helped me navigate the retail waters, and motivated me in my new role. Jane Andrews from Wegmans was one of those dietitians.
