Retail Dietitian Profiles
Just over a month ago I put a bow on my twelve-year career as a retail dietitian. I ended my time in the retail grocery industry as the Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for Festival Foods, but my role as a retail dietitian without a job description was where it all started.
RD Close-Up: Jenni Dreyer, MS, RDN, CD, Nutrition Communications Specialist at Skogen’s Festival Foods
I'm a Nutrition Communications Specialist with Festival Foods. I'm part of a three-person RD team known as the Mealtime Mentors. As part of my role, I help develop recipes for our Meal Ideas site, facilitate Appetite, the weekly email presented by the Mealtime Mentors, host virtual cooking classes, and work with vendors to promote new innovations.
Currently, I help lead our Hy-Vee dietitian team in our corporate initiatives. My tasks range from supervising team progression to collaborating with other teams and helping push forward our initiatives and branding to informing customers and media about health and nutrition.
I am a retail registered dietitian for Village Supermarket ShopRites in NJ, NY, PA, and MD, currently offering virtual nutrition consultations, cooking classes for all ages, and nutrition education programs for adults and children in the community.I am a retail registered dietitian for Village Supermarket ShopRites in NJ, NY, PA, and MD, currently offering virtual nutrition consultations, cooking classes for all ages, and nutrition education programs for adults and children in the community.
A key tenet of the Pay-Less Markets mission statement is to “care for our community.” Pay-Less fulfills this principle through four “Community Care” programs--Health Smart, EduKitchen, Go Green, and Pay-Less Supermarkets Community Foundation. As the Supermarket Dietitian, I oversee the Health Smart program, which promotes healthy living through product awareness, food education, fitness activities and partnerships, and individual nutrition services.
As an In-Store Dietitian at Loblaws, I’m responsible for promoting and providing nutrition and health education to customers at two Loblaws stores (in Toronto and Richmond Hill, Canada). This takes place through individual personalized counseling, Shop With the Dietitian tours, group workshops and events, children’s programs, on-the-floor customer interactions and food/nutrition education demos (pre-COVID).
